Diet and exercise are important for every one, no matter what their age or gender, including pregnant women. You heard me right pregnant women need to exercise just as much as anyone else. A few questions might arise when it comes to pregnant women exercising, so we will try to go over them here.

Most pregnant women wonder about the length of time and intensity of exercise they should perform. Most people who do not know about the importance of exercise usually tell you to relax, rest and don’t do anything.

But the truth is, that women who exercise during pregnancy often have an easier time when it comes to labor and delivery of that baby. You do need to be careful and not over exercise.
- When you are following your exercise routine, you need to pay attention to your breathing. If at any time you feel breathless, and can’t talk, then you need to slow down. You should only be exercising moderately.

- If you experience any bleeding, back pain then you need to see your doctor or midwife as soon as possible. This does not generally happen. So don’t use this as an excuse to avoid exercising when you are pregnant.

Pregnancy and the Advantages of Exercising

There are actually a number of advantages in exercising while pregnant that far outweigh those of not exercising. Women that are more active during their pregnancy suffer less from insomnia, and being uncomfortable. They feel less stressed and anxious over the pregnancy. Another advantage is that because endorphins are being released, pregnant women have a general feeling of well being.

On the other hand women that don’t exercise have problems with carrying the baby, feel more fatigued, gain more weight and are in overall worse health. They have a higher risk of pregnancy complications.

These complications can include back pain, muscle pain, high blood pressure, varicose veins, and other complications associated with pregnancy.

How is the Baby Affected by the Mother’s Exercising?

In the past there have been many wives tales that refer to the baby’s health being affected by an exercising mother. In reality babies that are born to healthy active mothers are more likely to be healthier, fitter and leaner than others.
